AMERICA’S RUBIN TELESCOPE SPOTS 2,104 NEW ASTEROIDS… AND 10 MILLION GALAXIES: The future of astronomy just blinked onto our screens — and it’s cinematic. In its first test run, the Vera C. Rubin Observatory discovered 2,104 brand-new asteroids (including 7 near-Earth ones, none threatening). But that’s not all…
Rubin also captured millions galaxies in a single time-lapse video. That’s just 0.05% of what it’ll eventually find — the total? 20 billion galaxies.
🚀 Highlights from this cosmic debut:
📸 The world’s largest digital camera (3,200 megapixels) is now online.
🎥 Rubin doesn’t just image the sky — it films it. Night after night.
🛰️ The observatory will map the entire sky every few days for the next 10 years.
🪐 Could find millions more asteroids, interstellar comets, and who knows — maybe Planet 9.
It’s the biggest dataset in optical astronomy history. And it’s only just begun.

🧠🤖 MUSK WANTS GROK TO REWRITE HUMAN HISTORY — WELCOME TO THE ERA OF AI-EDITED TRUTH. Elon Musk says his next AI model, Grok 3.5 (or maybe “4”), will be used to “rewrite the entire corpus of human knowledge,” deleting what he calls “errors” and replacing them with ideologically uncensored truth.
—> 📍 THE QUOTE: “We will use Grok 3.5 (maybe we should call it 4), which has advanced reasoning, to rewrite the entire corpus of human knowledge, adding missing information and deleting errors,” Musk posted on X, his own platform, on Saturday. "There is far too much garbage in any foundation model trained on uncorrected data."
—> 🧪 THE TECH: Grok is powered by xAI’s Colossus supercomputer, built in under 9 months. It’s trained on synthetic data, with a focus on reducing hallucinations and improving “factual reasoning.” The new Grok 3.5 will be available to X Premium+ subscribers and through xAI’s standalone app.
—> ⚔️ THE IDEOLOGY: Musk, who co-founded OpenAI but has since become one of its loudest critics, claims rival models are infected by a “woke mind virus.” He’s positioning Grok as an “anti-woke” alternative — and asking users to submit “divisive facts” to train it. Musk’s pitch: politically incorrect, but supposedly factually true.
—> 🏛️ GOV’T TESTING: Despite controversy, reports say the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has tested Grok to help analyze internal data and draft reports. DHS denies officially endorsing the tool — but the pilot use hints at Grok’s institutional ambitions.

QUANTUM // ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
🎓🤖 ALTMAN: CHATGPT IS SMARTER THAN A PhD — BUT “YOU SHOULDN’T TRUST IT THAT MUCH.” In a moment that perfectly captures the strange now, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says ChatGPT can already outperform top-tier experts… even as it hallucinates.
—> 📍 THE QUOTE: “AIs can do problems that I’d expect an expert PhD in my field to do… In some sense, AIs are like a top competitive programmer in the world now.” —Sam Altman, Uncapped Podcast, June 2025
—> 🧠 BUT ALSO THIS: “There is this weird thing where people have a very high degree of trust in ChatGPT. It hallucinates! It should be the tech that you don’t trust that much.”
—> 🤯 THE PARADOX: It’s smarter than a PhD. It can ace the world’s hardest math problems. It writes code, passes the bar, crushes bio exams — but its creator says: don’t trust it too much.
—> 💥 THE TAKEAWAY: We’re living in a moment where AI can outthink the best minds alive — and still make stuff up. And we’re building society around it anyway.

VIRTUAL REALITY
🏃♂️🕶️ THE WORKOUT OF THE FUTURE JUST GOT FUNDED. Virtuix — the company behind that sci-fi looking VR treadmill — just raised $3.2 million from regular people online to build more Omni One machines. What is it? Picture a low-friction platform with a waist harness that lets you run, walk, crouch, and jump in 360° — inside virtual reality.
—> 🎮 HOW IT WORKS: Strap into the Omni One, throw on a VR headset (they offer a bundle with the Pico 4E), and suddenly you’re sprinting through video games — or training like a soldier. No joystick, no teleporting. You’re actually moving.
—> 💪 WHO’S USING IT: At-home gamers. Dave & Buster’s. And now — the U.S. Air Force. Virtuix just launched the Omni Mission Trainer (OMT) so real troops can train in virtual warzones, fully geared up, with 12+ teammates in the same simulation.
—> 🧠 WHY IT MATTERS: It’s part fitness machine, part game console, part military sim. Think Peloton meets Call of Duty — but with real movement and real sweat. And now with a $200M valuation, Virtuix says it can build up to 3,000 units/month.
—> 🔮 THE FUTURE: Want to game and get shredded at the same time? This might be it.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
🎓🤖 7,000 AI CHEATERS CAUGHT — BUT 94% STILL SLIP THROUGH. A Guardian investigation found 7,000 proven cases of AI cheating at UK universities last year — but the real number is likely way higher. Why? Most AI use goes totally undetected.
—> 📊 THE FINDINGS: The Guardian surveyed 155 universities. Only 131 responded. Many didn’t track AI misuse separately. Still, they uncovered a surge in confirmed AI cheating — up from 1.6 per 1,000 students in 2022 to 5.1 in 2024. Next year? Projected to hit 7.5. But that’s just the surface.
—> 🔍 THE STUDY: At the University of Reading, researchers intentionally submitted AI-written essays to test detection systems. The result? 94% weren’t flagged. AI detectors failed — and faculty couldn’t prove the essays were machine-written. “Those caught represent the tip of the iceberg,” said Dr. Peter Scarfe, co-author of the study.
—> 🕵️♀️ HOW THEY GET AWAY WITH IT: Students use TikTok-trending tools to “humanize” ChatGPT text. Others mix AI-generated drafts with their own edits. Dr. Thomas Lancaster of Imperial College London says: “When used well and by a student who knows how to edit the output, AI misuse is very hard to prove.”
—> 🧠 THE NEW NORMAL: The line between “cheating” and “using tools” is getting fuzzier. Some educators say we should lean in — teaching students how to use AI responsibly. Others say the whole assessment model needs a rethink.

ONE MORE THING
🧠💔 AI OUTSCORES HUMANS ON EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE TESTS — BUT DOES IT REALLY FEEL ANYTHING? In a new study from the University of Geneva and Bern, large language models like ChatGPT-4 crushed humans on emotional intelligence quizzes — correctly identifying the “right” emotional response 81% of the time, compared to just 56% for people.
—> 🤖 THE STUDY: Researchers ran top AI models through standardized multiple-choice tests used in psychology. AI picked the “best” emotional responses more often than humans — and even wrote new test questions that fooled experts into thinking they were real.
—> ⚠️ THE CATCH: These were structured, calm, no-stakes tests — not real-life breakups or panic attacks. Meet Aílton — a WhatsApp-based AI counselor for truckers in Brazil. It detected stress, anger, and grief with 80% accuracy — 20 points higher than human dispatchers. In one case, it consoled a driver after a colleague's fatal crash and alerted the fleet team instantly.
—> 🧠 THE TAKEAWAY: AI isn’t feeling your feelings. But it’s getting scarily good at recognizing and responding to them — and sometimes better than we can.
