mtf.tv's mtf NOW: 🤖 POLL: USA most afraid of AI... 📵 Digital detox goes luxury... 🪨☄️ CLOSE CALL: NASA tracking asteroid's fly-by...

📵 SUMMER VACATION PLANS: UNPLUG TO UPGRADE: Offline is in. At Mexico’s Grand Velas Resorts, a “Detox Concierge” takes your phone on arrival. In Italy, Eremito offers candlelit, no-wifi monastery vibes. This White Lotus but unplugged…

—> THE TREND: DIGITAL DETOX GOES LUXURY. According to Hilton’s 2025 report, 27% of travelers say they’ll cut back on social media this summer. Plum Guide searches for tech-free escapes? Up 17%.

—> THE STATS: ADDICTED AND ANGRY: You’re not imagining it: 62% of adults say they hate how much they’re on their phones. On average, we spend one full day per week online. No wonder unplugged is aspirational — and expensive.

—> THE CRASH: 24 HOURS OF PANIC: University of Greenwich researchers found a pattern: day one of no screen = chaos. Day two = calm. By day three, people start talking. Reading. Cooking. Remembering who they are.

—> THE COMEBACK: FLIP PHONES, POLAROIDS, AND PHONE-FREE PROMS
Pinterest and #HalfTheStory hosted actual screen-free proms. Polaroids replaced selfies. Lockers replaced Instagram. Turns out Gen Z’s rebellion might be going... analog?

—> THE TOOL: WHAT IS A YONDR POUCH? It’s a magnetically locked case that keeps your phone in your pocket — but totally unusable. Used at schools, stand-up shows, and on Broadway (shoutout Othello), it forces disconnection. You want to check your texts? You’ve got to leave the room and unlock it. New neural pathways. Real dopamine.

—> THE FUTURE: BURNOUT IS A BUSINESS PLAN: The anti-scroll movement is growing. Companies like Unplugged and Samsú are building entire brands around tech-free luxury. Some founders are ex–Facebook, ex–start-up — now betting that peace and boredom might just be the next big thing.

FUTURES

Jobs day tomorrow…

CRYPTO

📈 BITCOIN $115K? DEPENDS ON JOBS REPORT. Bitcoin could blast past $115,000 by July — or crash below $100K — depending on what happens June 6.

—> THE BULL CASE: Analysts say ETF inflows and institutional demand are driving the rally. BTC is already up 11.5% in 30 days, with May alone seeing $5.24B in ETF inflows.

—> BUT… If the U.S. jobs report comes in strong, it could delay Fed rate cuts, boost the dollar, and put the brakes on Bitcoin’s run. In that case, analysts warn BTC could drop to $95K–$97K — or lower.

—> THE LINE TO WATCH: If the June 6 jobs data is weaker-than-expected, expect the Fed to get dovish. That could supercharge crypto markets just in time for Q3.

SPACE

🪨 ASTEROID THE SIZE OF THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE BUZZES EARTH TONIGHT
A massive space rock named 2008 DG5 — one of the biggest ever to swing this close — will fly by Earth safely at 7:59 p.m. ET, June 5. No danger. Just drama.

—> 🚀 THE FLYBY: At up to 2,296 feet wide, this asteroid is larger than an aircraft carrier or the Golden Gate Bridge. It'll pass within 2.17 million miles — close by cosmic standards, but still 9x the moon's distance.

—> 🔭 HOW TO WATCH: The Virtual Telescope Project will stream the flyby live , starting 6 p.m. ET. Expect a single bright speck moving against the stars.

—> ☄️ WHAT IF IT HIT? Don't panic — it won’t. But if it did, it could cause regional destruction. For comparison: the 1908 Tunguska blast in Siberia (from a 130-foot asteroid) flattened 80 million trees. This one? Up to 17x bigger.

—> 📡 WHY IT MATTERS: NASA classifies 2008 DG5 as a “potentially hazardous object”, part of a growing watchlist of 1,784 tracked space rocks. Its next flyby? 2032.

QUANTUM // ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

🤖 POLL: AMERICANS MOST AFRAID OF AI — AND DON’T TRUST THE GOV TO HELP. New global survey finds U.S. adults among the most anxious about artificial intelligence. Other countries? Not even close.

—> THE NUMBERS: AI FEAR INDEX

  • 67% of Brits and 66% of Americans say they’re nervous about AI in daily life.

  • Just 46% of Germans, 50% of Italians, and 41% of the French feel the same.

  • In contrast, 75% of Thais believe AI might take their job — but they’re still optimistic.

—> TRUST GAP WIDENS

  • Only 40% of Americans trust the U.S. government to regulate AI responsibly — one of the lowest trust scores globally.

  • By comparison: Germany (65%), France (61%), Malaysia (78%).

—> JOBS AT RISK? DEPENDS WHO YOU ASK

  • Just 25% of Americans believe AI will improve the job market.

  • 35% think it’ll make things worse.

  • In Sweden, only 14% worry about job loss due to AI.

  • In Thailand: 73% think AI will replace their current job — but excitement is double what it is in the U.S.

—> REALITY CHECK: While Americans fear AI will ruin work, most of the world sees it as progress. The tech may be global — but the panic is local.

ONE MORE THING

🌿 SENIOR CITIZENS SMOKE WEED: MARIJUANA USE HITS NEW HIGH AMONG OLDER AMERICANS. Forget the stereotypes. Grandma’s not just baking cookies — she’s microdosing edibles and asking about indica strains. The fastest-growing group of cannabis users? Seniors.

—> THE DATA: USAGE DOUBLED IN TWO YEARS. In 2023, 7% of adults 65+ used weed monthly — up from 4.8% in 2021. The biggest spikes came from wealthy, college-educated, and female seniors.

—> THE SHIFT: CHRONIC CONDITIONS, CHRONIC USE. Cannabis use surged 134% among older adults with multiple health issues. In states where medical marijuana is legal, use jumped 46%. The top reasons: pain, sleep, mood, and yes — to feel good.

—> THE TAKEAWAY: DOCS NEED TO CATCH UP. Only 56% of regular older users talk to their doctors about weed. As demand climbs, experts say: talk early, dose carefully, and don’t assume age equals inexperience.
