THE FUTURE OF MONEY
💵 AMERICANS AREN’T JUST SAVING — THEY’RE STRATEGIZING. New data from JPMorganChase Institute shows millions of Americans are ditching boring bank accounts and putting their cash into money market funds, brokerage accounts, and CDs — places where it can actually grow.
—> 📊 THE BIG SHIFT: Checking and savings accounts? Still stuck. But once you count higher-yield accounts, total cash reserves are climbing again — even for lower-income families. One reason the economy’s still kicking? People are making their money work smarter, not harder.
—> 💸 THE DATA: Study tracked 4.7 million households. Families making under $35K/year saw cash grow 5–6% a year. The lowest earners have about $1K in savings. The highest earners? $8K+.
—> 🧠 SMARTER SAVING ISN’T JUST FOR THE RICH: Americans are using investment-style accounts not just for Wall Street moves — but for daily cash management. With high interest rates, it makes sense. Why park your money when it could be moving?

SPACE
🌕 A GIANT ROCK MIGHT HIT THE MOON — AND SEND SPACE DEBRIS HURTLING TOWARD EARTH. Asteroid 2024 YR4 probably won’t hit Earth… but there’s a 4 percent-ish chance it’ll slam into the moon in 2032. And if it does? Scientists say it could trigger the biggest lunar impact in 5,000 years — blasting debris into space, damaging satellites, and maybe even sparking a celestial meteor shower over Earth.
—> ☄️ HOW BIG IS THIS THING? About 200 feet wide, YR4 is the size of a large plane. It used to have a 1-in-43 shot at hitting Earth — now it’s got a 4% chance of hitting the moon. If that happens, we’re talking the force of 6 million tons of TNT — a lunar explosion the size of a nuke.
—> 🛰️ WHY IT COULD STILL AFFECT EARTH: While the moon would take the hit, spacecraft above Earth could be in danger. Some of the debris (up to 100 million kg!) would get blasted off the surface at 22,000+ mph, fast enough to damage satellites, ISS systems, or future moon bases.
—> 🌠 METEOR SHOWER WARNING: If it hits, we could see a temporary meteor storm—10 to 1,000 times stronger than usual. Think space fireworks... from a cosmic smash.
—> 🚀 WHY IT MATTERS: This is more than moon dust. It's a wake-up call for space traffic safety in a world where we’re launching more satellites and planning moon bases. One rogue rock could still cause major disruption — even if it misses Earth.

SIGN OF THE TIMES
🌴 QUIET VACATIONING: THE NEWEST WORKPLACE HACK: Forget quiet quitting — millennials are sneaking in vacations without ever telling their boss. They’re responding to Slack from the beach, scanning emails from overseas, and even scheduling late-night messages to look busy... all while technically on the clock.
—> 💻 THE STATS: A new Fortune report finds nearly 4 in 10 millennials admit to taking time off without approval. Gen Z, Gen X, and boomers? Only about a quarter. Some are faking just 1–3 days, but 25% vanish for an entire work week.
—> 😰 WHY THEY’RE DOING IT: It’s not laziness — it’s anxiety. Many workers fear that asking for PTO could cost them promotions or job security. Nearly 2 in 5 worry time off makes them look expendable.
—> 🕵️♂️ SPOTTING A QUIET VACATIONER: Watch for odd response times or timezone-flavored delays. But experts say: don’t just snoop — fix the culture. If your team has to fake a beach day, it might be time to rethink expectations.

🧠 META’S XR TECH IS GOING FROM WAR ZONES TO HOSPITAL ROOMS: The company that made your VR headset is now suiting up for battlefields and brain scans. Meta just partnered with Anduril, a military tech company, to bring extended reality (XR) to the future of warfare — and new job listings show they’re aiming that same tech at medical devices next.
—> 🥽 FROM QUEST TO COMBAT GEAR: Meta’s Reality Labs division is expanding beyond gaming. Its XR headsets are being reimagined for military missions, teaming up with Anduril to build battlefield-grade smart wearables for soldiers — think tactical AR goggles with mission data overlaid in real time.
—> 🏥 AND NOW: DOCTOR MODE: But it’s not just war. Meta is also hiring for regulatory roles to help get its XR tech cleared for medical use. Their new focus? AR glasses, wrist wearables, and “software as a medical device”. The vision: XR that helps doctors diagnose, train, or even operate — in real time, through layers of augmented reality.
—> 🌍 WHY IT MATTERS: This is the medicalization of the metaverse. Meta’s headsets may soon be treating trauma or training troops — depending on the setting. From battlefield medics to surgical overlays, this is XR stepping off the couch and into the real world.

ONE MORE THING
🌕 THE POPE CALLED BUZZ ALDRIN FROM HIS SPACE OBSERVATORY: On the 56th anniversary of the moon landing, Pope Leo XIV dialed up Buzz Aldrin from the Vatican’s very own astronomical observatory and blessed the legend himself — plus his family and team. 🚀✝️
—> 🔭 POPE LEO: MAN OF FAITH, FRIEND OF SCIENCE: After his Sunday Angelus at the Vatican’s Castel Gandolfo retreat, the pope visited the Vatican Observatory — home to meteorites from Mars, elite Jesuit astronomers, and some of the best space research on Earth. Not bad for a place founded in 1891 to explore the heavens… God’s version.
—> 📞 “HELLO, IS THIS BUZZ?” Pope Leo posted about the call on X, calling the Apollo 11 moonwalk a “testimony to human ingenuity” and a moment to reflect on “the mystery and greatness of Creation.” Your move, Elon.
—> 🌌 WHY YOU CARE: The pope isn’t just looking up at the stars — he’s connecting science and spirit, blessing space explorers, and reminding the world: faith doesn’t fear the future. It reaches for it.
